The Spring-Drive technology replaces the traditional escapement with a “Tri-Synchro Regulation System”, which controls the energy generated by the mainspring. It converts a small part of this energy into electricity to power a quartz crystal. The quartz serves as a reference which regulates the speed of a glide wheel and thus the gear by means of an electromechanical brake. The mainspring remains the only source of energy. This ideally combines the advantages of an automatic mechanical watch and a quartz and achieves high rate accuracy.
