The Omega Seamaster Railmaster Co-Axial Master Chronometer (Ref. 220.10.40.20.01.001) is a simple, yet sophisticated, practical and elegant watch.

Originally launched in 1957 for people who work in the vicinity of electrical and magnetic fields, the modern re-issue resembles an absolutely stylish but down-to-earth tool watch. It features a 40 mm stainless steel brushed case with a conical crown.

The black steel dial of the Railmaster is vertically brushed with hour markers filled with khaki-colored Super-LumiNova. Together with the excellent font work this gives the watch a distinctive traditional yet modern look.

With this version of the Railmaster Omega did an excellent job of subtly introducing “Railway-DNA”: The minute markings are done in a railway track fashion, the seconds hand uses a lollipop style, like swiss railroad clocks.

The bracelet version features a fully integrated and finely brushed stainless steel bracelet with a butterfly clasp (sadly without any quick-adjustments).

The Railmaster is powered by the anti-magnetic Master Chronometer caliber 8806, which is hidden behind a solid case back and has been certified by the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS). It can withstand magnetic fields of up to 15,000 gauss.
